Both vendors’ pricing pages were captured on 8 August 2026 in the USD view, on monthly billing, at the 1,000 subscriber tier, so the figures are like-for-like. Neither product was tested hands-on. Nothing here is benchmarked, no inbox-placement data appears, and no winner is declared — the page reports each vendor’s published terms and leaves the choice to you. Note that MailerLite repriced on 16 June 2026; figures published before that date are stale.
The Short Version
These two platforms have drifted into opposite shapes. Kit gives away audience size and charges for automation and tooling. MailerLite gives away a little of everything and charges early. Which is cheaper depends entirely on whether you cross Kit’s free ceiling before you need Kit’s paid features.

A Trap on Both Pricing Pages
Both vendors default their pricing page to the yearly view, so the first number you see is already discounted. Kit displays $33 and $66 per month for Creator and Pro; the monthly-billing prices are $39 and $79. MailerLite displays $10.80 and $22.50; the monthly prices are $12 and $25. Kit’s annual discount is 17%, MailerLite’s is 10%. Every figure on this page is monthly billing unless stated.

The comparison is not close on capacity. Kit’s free tier carries a list forty times larger and will send to it without limit; MailerLite’s will send to a full 250-person list roughly ten times a month. What MailerLite gives away instead is breadth — three automations, a website, a landing page and product sales, where Kit’s free plan allows one basic automation and one sequence.
Both free tiers narrowed in 2026. MailerLite’s reprice on 16 June 2026 cut it from 1,000 subscribers and 12,000 emails to 250 and 2,500, and raised paid tiers 10–30% for existing customers as well as new ones.

At the same list size, MailerLite Comfort is less than half the price of Kit Creator, and MailerLite Power matches Kit Creator exactly at $39 while removing every cap. Kit’s paid plans buy unlimited sending and unlimited automation steps from the first tier, plus a free migration service MailerLite does not offer at all.
Who Should Pick Kit
Anyone under 10,000 subscribers whose automation needs stop at one welcome sequence. Kit will carry that list for nothing, indefinitely, with no send cap — a position MailerLite charges $89/month to match at 10,000 subscribers on Comfort. Also anyone migrating a large list, since Kit rebuilds forms, templates and automations for free on paid plans and MailerLite declines to help at all.
Who Should Pick MailerLite
Anyone who has already outgrown one automation and wants to pay as little as possible for several. At 1,000 subscribers, MailerLite Comfort runs 50 automations for $19/month against Kit Creator’s $39. It is also the cheaper platform for selling: MailerLite charges no commission on digital products and bookings beyond Stripe’s own fees, where Kit takes 3.5% + 30¢ on every transaction on every plan, free tier included.
The Number That Actually Decides It
Ten thousand subscribers, or one automation — whichever you reach first. Reach 10,000 subscribers while still running a single sequence and Kit has been free the whole way while MailerLite would have billed you $89/month by the end. Reach a second and third automation at 800 subscribers and MailerLite Comfort costs $19/month where Kit Creator costs $39. The subscriber count alone does not settle it; the automation count does.

Verdict
No overall winner, because the two answer different questions. Kit is the cheaper platform for growing an audience; MailerLite is the cheaper platform for working one. If you are building a list and sending a newsletter, Kit’s free plan is the better deal by a wide margin and stays that way to 10,000 subscribers. If you are running several funnels, selling digital products, or need more than two seats, MailerLite is materially cheaper at every tier below Power.
